It&#8217;s completely uninhabited, with no services &#8211; but that&#8217;s part of its charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The catamaran ride out is SO much fun and part of the journey. Once the anchor is dropped, snorkel around the boat or explore the island. Icacos by boat, and the trips begin around $60\/person for water taxi, with catamarans costing a little bit more and offering deeper excursion experiences.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-tab kt-tab-inner-content kt-inner-tab-2 kt-inner-tab6fd4b0-74\"><div class=\"kt-tab-inner-content-inner\">\n<p>Cayo Icacos is always open, however no camping is allowed.<br> <br>Visiting hours will vary based on your water taxi or catamaran schedule.  Water taxis leave roughly every 30 minutes, and catamarans have charters throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cayo Icacos is gorgeous year-round.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-tab kt-tab-inner-content kt-inner-tab-3 kt-inner-tabc66db7-eb\"><div class=\"kt-tab-inner-content-inner\">\n<p>Water taxis leave from the Las Croabas neighborhood of Fajardo (about 45 minutes from San Juan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Catamarans leave from Marina Puerto del Rey (just under an hour from San Juan) or Villa Marina (about 10 minutes from San Juan).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-tab kt-tab-inner-content kt-inner-tab-4 kt-inner-tab639c92-64\"><div class=\"kt-tab-inner-content-inner\">\n<p>Check in with your tour company about what&#8217;s provided and think ahead in your packing since you&#8217;ll be on an island without amenities. It&#8217;s mesmorizing  how your skin literally glows, and so fascinating to learn about the phenomenon behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All three bioluminescent bays are accessible by authorized tour company only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most convenient bioluminescent bay to San Juan is <a href=\"http:\/\/vi.me\/RFlmH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Laguna Grande<\/a>.  This is also the most visited one, because of how close it is to San Juan.  To protect the bay, swimming is not allowed but there are several boating options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re on the south side of the island, you can visit <a href=\"http:\/\/vi.me\/Slsmj\">La Parguer<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/vi.me\/Slsmj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">a<\/a>. This is the only bioluminescent bay on Puerto Rico that you can actually swim in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vi.me\/kAjjb\">Mosquito <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/vi.me\/kAjjb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bay<\/a> on Vieques is said to give off the strongest light.
